Yesterday, Port Canaveral’s Board of Commissioners unanimously approved an increase of parking fees. Regular-sized vehicles will be charged an additional $1 per day to bring the total to $16, and oversized vehicles will be charged an additional $2 per day to bring the total to $28.
The Board’s decision took into account parking fees at Florida’s other ports. The Port of Tampa, JaxPort (Jacksonville), and Port Everglades all charge $15 per day for regular sized vehicles and $30, $30, and $19 for oversized vehicles, respectively. PortMiami is the most expensive, charging $20 per day for regular-sized vehicles and $40 per day for oversized vehicles.
It is estimated that $900,000 of additional parking revenue will result from the increases, which will be tested for 90 days while conversations are held with cruise lines that have home-port ships at Port Canaveral.
