We first reported this story yesterday, and Disney Parks has now confirmed that the Walt Disney World Resort Monorail System will be on limited routes starting in February.
According to Disney, guests may notice a difference in the way they board the Monorail, and should make sure to allow additional travel time. They have also stated that guests staying at affected resorts will receive in-room communication upon their arrival.
We have seen reports that the Walt Disney World Resort Monorail System will be running on limited routes starting next month. The changes will reportedly take place during the following dates: February 3 – 5, February 9 – 12, February 23 – 26, March 2 – 5 2015, between the hours of 11am and 7pm.
- Monorails on the Resort beam will stop at Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort only.
- Monorails on the Express beam will stop at the Magic Kingdom, Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) and Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
- Guests wanting to visit Epcot will have to take the Monorail to the (TTC), and then hop on the Express beam headed to Epcot.
This may be an unusual way to solve the problem, but don’t forget there are plenty of other transportation options in the Magic Kingdom and Transportation and Ticket Center area. There are direct buses to Epcot at each Disney Resort. Ferry and boat options are also very convenient for guests when needing to get to a Monorail resort for your dining reservations. The transportation Cast Members will also be there to help you find the best solution to your needs.
We will be watching for more information about the projected construction issues effecting the Monorail services.

SURE….other transportation??????? The busses are horrible. I love Disney but the busses are the Worst part !!!! Especially if you stay at a budget resort like Pop Century. always the farthest away for pick up and drop off and never enough buses. You’ll be jammed like sardines !

Transportation is one thing I didn’t miss when I visit Disneyland Resort. Shuttle buses are cumbersome with tiny people. It is a very unusual approach to dealing with the Monorail issues but I trust them. 🙂

Just take the bus, it’s a lot easier nowadays.
