On November 9, 2015, Orlando Theme Park News reported that SeaWorld Entertainment held the company’s Investor and Analyst Day. During the presentation, President and Chief Executive Officer Joel Manby shared a plan to build on the company’s strong business fundamentals. This plan would take into account both Guests’ experiences and consumer preferences. SeaWorld Entertainment knows that Guests want to learn more about the natural world, the plight of animals in the wild, as well as take part in fun family entertainment and exciting attractions.
The plan includes a new approach to in-park activities as well as creating a greater connection to the company’s award winning television programming that highlights SeaWorld Entertainment’s veterinary care and animal rescue operations. In addition, other elements are included in the plan such as a more simplified approach to value-based pricing, investment in new attractions, and an ongoing focus on cost control as part of a larger commitment to financial discipline. Mr. Manby also announced several new business initiatives, including partnerships with Panasonic and Evans Hotel Group.
New partnerships and new hotels were also discussed during the presentation. Orlando Theme Park News quoted Jim Doyle, President of Panasocia Enterprise Solutions Company, as saying “Panasonic is very pleased to be chosen by SeaWorld Entertainment as their new technology partner. There are endless possibilities when it comes to adding technology to update and enhance the guest experience throughout all of the parks. Panasonic looks forward to delivering the most cutting-edge technology solutions to impress and amaze.”
The award-winning and Emmy-nominated Saturday morning family television programs, Sea Rescue and The Wildlife Docs, have been renewed by Litton Entertainment and will continue through the Summer of 2018. While this announcement may not have been exactly thrilling, the news that followed was! A new roller coaster themed after Sea Rescue will open in 2017 at SeaWorld San Antonio and new dark rides will open in SeaWorld Orlando and SeaWorld San Diego that same year!
Other announcements included the rollout of a more user-friendly website that will allow Guests to create their own tickets, add more days and include special experiences! The new site will also highlight special offers and we all know that most of us seek out those special offers.
As some of you may have already read in the last couple of days, changes are coming to the SeaWorld San Diego park. Mr. Manby announced the company has initiated production on a new orca presentation at SeaWorld San Diego. The current show, One Ocean, will be discontinued but will run through 2016. The new experience will engage and inform guests by highlighting more of the species’ natural behaviors. The show will include conservation messaging and tips that guests can take home with them to make a difference for orcas in the wild.
Lots of changes are coming to the SeaWorld parks! First, Magical DIStractions team member Dawn reported on the new rollercoaster, Mako, and now these announcements were made. I’m excited to see them all come to fruition! While we wait on these new changes and additions, you can take part in the SeaWorld’s Christmas Celebration® that will splash its way into the park on November 21st! If you want more information on the celebration, you can find it here.
