As Magical DIStractions has been reporting, big changes are coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Everyone is thrilled about the addition of “Toy Story Land” and “Star Wars Land” but, as the old saying goes, it’s “Out with the old! In with the new!” especially at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Along with the exciting news of the new and/or improved additions comes the sad news that many fan favorites will be or have already been closed. First, there was the closure of The Backlot Tour and the American Idol Experience. Next, the Sorcerer’s Hat was removed. Just last week, Magical DIStractions covered the story that 2015 is the last year for the Osbourne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights.
It’s now being reported that Mulch, Sweat n’ Shears will be performing their last show on October 10, 2015. Mulch, Sweat n’ Shears is not only the “landscaping crew” at the Park but they are also a cover band that performs a high energy “rake and roll” show! Until just a year or so ago, the band was a traveling band and you’d find them on the Streets of America setting up for or playing their gig. Most recently, their shows took place on the stage at the end of Hollywood Boulevard.
Over the years, my family and I have enjoyed the rousing concerts put on by this talented group. My husband and I were taken back to our teenage years when they’d play such rock-n-roll classics like Start Me Up and Jump. At times, Guests are randomly brought into the show to play the cowbell, air guitar, or even to sing along. I was one of the chosen ones and, even though I have absolutely no rhythm or musical skills, I thoroughly enjoyed myself and my kids thought that it was pretty cool to see me “on stage” with the band.
I know that all good things must come to an end but I sure am going to miss Mulch, Sweat n’ Shears! Have you ever seen Mulch, Sweat n’ Shears or were chosen to be part of their show? We’d love for you to share your memories with us!

There are sooo many changes happening in the Hollywood Studios since our last visit. I was just looking at our pictures from our last trip as they scrolled across my screensaver, and the Backlot Tour pictures came up and some with the Sorcerer Hat. I realized how happy I am to have those images because I will miss them when I go back! 🙁
Unfortunately, I never got to see Mulch, Sweat n’ Shears, but I enjoyed your video very much! You totally ROCK, Lisa!! And you got some smooth moves, too! 😉
