The Walt Disney Company recently announced that Tangled will make its debut on Disney Cruise Lines! The on-stage spectacular will entertain guests of all ages with a great storyline, fabulous music, lavish sets and magnificent costumes. As was posted by the Disney Parks Blog, the show will make its debut on the November 11th 4-day Bahamian sailing of the Disney Magic. During the show, Disney Cruise Line Guests will be immersed in the storyline from the movie and will watch their favorite Tangled characters come to life.
I know that my family will be letting their hair down and singing their favorite songs from the movie. Hearing the musical scores of “When Will My Life Begin,” “Mother Knows Best” and “I See The Light” will be thrilling. We also look forward to hearing three new songs from the stage production that Academy Award winning composer Alan Menken and Grammy Award winning lyricist Glenn Slater collaborated to produce. We can hardly wait to watch the pub thugs at the Snuggly Duckling tavern singing “I Have A Dream.” I’m sure we will be dancing in our seats!
The 977-seat Walt Disney Theater is being designed to look like the Bavarian Kingdom of Corona. Exploring Kingdom Town, the lake and Rapunzel’s Tower will become a reality as a result of the stunning sets. One of our favorite scenes from the movie, the lantern scene, is going to be breathtaking. The sets are being designed by Bradley Kaye who created masterpieces for “Disney’s Aladdin, A Musical Spectacular.” To further make us feel like we have stepped into a fairy tale, costumes are being designed by Tony Award winning costume designer Paloma Young. These costumes will help give the illusion that we are actually watching Flynn Ryder and Rapunzel working to defeat the villainous Mother Gothel.
Maximus, the police horse will be a crowd pleaser. Master puppeteer Michael Curry, who designed the puppets for Broadway’s “The Lion King,” has produced a scene stealer in Maximus. The horse was hilarious in the movie and will be even funnier in this stage production.
Tangled: The Musical promises to be magical. It is a wonderful addition to the line-up of great entertainment Guests find on Disney Cruise Lines. I can hardly wait to see it!
