The Great Mouse Detective, released on July 2, 1986, celebrates 29 years. The film was received well by the public, generating over $25 Million in its initial release. Its moderate success gave Disney’s new management more confidence in the animation department ultimately leading to the making of The Little Mermaid three years later.

After a re-release in 1992,  The Great Mouse Detective became part of the Walt Disney Classics.
