(Alternate Title: Why my parents’ favorite ride throughout the Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Studios Orlando is a mode of transportation.)
Some forms of transportation in theme parks are relatively standard (bus, tram). Some are a bit more unique (ferry, monorail).
SOME ARE SUPER AWESOME (The Hogwarts Express).
At Universal Studios Orlando, the Hogwarts Express functions as park-to-park transportation between Universal Studios Florida (King’s Cross Station) and Universal’s Islands of Adventure (Hogsmeade Station). As such, in order to enjoy this particular “ride”, you must have a Park-to-Park admission ticket.
Every part of this experience, from the station queues, to the train platforms, to the train itself (inside AND outside), is filled with rich detail that all can enjoy, Harry Potter fan or not. The ride to and from each station treats passengers to a unique journey, complete with humor, friendly faces from the Harry Potter franchise, and (last but definitely not least) the opportunity to sit on a comfortable seat for several minutes (something that does not go unappreciated during a long day of park touring!).
Next time you’re visiting the Universal Orlando Resort, I highly recommend checking out the Hogwarts Express, which truly ties together your Wizarding World of Harry Potter touring experience. Don’t forget to bring your wand!
