Your opinions are important to us so a few weeks back, Magical DIStractions asked our readers for their thoughts on several subjects. One of those subjects being “What is your favorite snack at the Magic Kingdom?“
As you can see from the above graph, the Dole Whip/Dole Whip Float beat out the other snack options by a wide margin. Dole Whips received 44.4% of the vote! This delicious soft-serve delight is a frozen treat blended in pineapple, vanilla or swirled flavors. Want to try something other than a Dole Whip? Order a Dole Whip Float with Dole Pineapple Juice. Because there are several flavors of ice cream to choose from, you could order a different Dole Whip on your second, third or fourth trip to the counter at Aloha Isle in the Magic Kingdom. Dole Whips were one of the featured treats in my Where in Walt Disney World Can I Find? The Cool Treats edition and are clearly the fan favorite!
DIStracted Tip: If you find yourself craving one of these delicious concoctions but you’re not in the Magic Kingdom, you can also find them at Pineapple Lanai in Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and at Tamu Tamu Refreshments in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park. Want a more adult version? Tamu Tamu Refreshments also serves a Dole Whip Cup with Coconut Rum and one with Dark Rum.
Mickey Ears Ice Cream came in second with 22.2% of the readers’ votes. Our survey didn’t specify exactly which “Mickey Ears Ice Cream” you were voting for and because there are at least two that I know of, our readers could have been voting for the classic vanilla ice cream covered in chocolate or they could have possibly been thinking of the Mickey Ears Ice Cream sandwich. I’m fairly sure that you were referring to the Mickey Ears Ice Cream dipped in chocolate but, either way, it comes as no surprise to me that it/they earned a solid second place.
With 11.1% each, Ice Cream from Plaza Ice Cream Parlor and Popcorn tied for third place.
If you are looking to indulge in hand-scooped ice cream, Plaza Ice Cream Parlor is where you need to go! This sweetly nostalgic ice cream parlor is located on Main Street, U.S.A. in the Magic Kingdom park. Guests can savor floats, fresh waffle-bowl sundaes smothered in hot fudge and Mickey cones with chocolate ears! Have special dietary needs? Plaza Ice Cream Parlor has both fat and sugar-free options available.
DIStracted Tip: Plaza Ice Cream Parlor isn’t the only place that you can find ice cream in the Magic Kingdom. Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies serves soft-serve cones, sundaes and floats made with soda or iced coffee that are out of this world!
When it comes to popcorn, it can be found in several places within the Magic Kingdom. There are carts stationed throughout the park so you’ll never have to go very far to find this buttery freshly popped treat. Just let your nose follow the savory scent of popcorn! At times, Guests even have the option of purchasing their popcorn in themed souvenir buckets.
DIStracted Tip: You may want to stop by Casey’s Corner on Main Street U.S.A. for another type of popcorn. While I know that it is not what most think of when someone says “popcorn,” Cracker Jacks are sold at Casey’s Corner and the reasonable price is a home run!
While our result chart has no percentages, it looks like the Citrus Swirl and Waffle Sandwich evenly tied for fourth place with roughly 5.6% each.
The Citrus Swirl is made of tasty soft-serve ice cream blended with frozen juice and is sunshine in a scoop! Guests can order delicious citrus swirls from Sunshine Tree Terrace in Adventureland. The frozen delight is served in a cup so it can be eaten on the go or while you sit and relax in a nice shady spot.
Sleepy Hollow serves up the most amazing waffle sandwiches and I’m sure that’s why they received a percentage of our readers’ votes. “Fill the hollow in your belly with a tasty treat at this quaint brick cottage by Cinderella Castle. Choose between sweet waffle sandwiches or funnel cakes topped with strawberries and whipped cream.” (Excerpt from the Walt Disney World website.) Sleepy Hollow waffles (and lots of others) were featured in my Where in Walt Disney World Can I Find? Waffles! article.
Quite honestly, I’m surprised that Turkey Legs didn’t receive enough votes to make the chart. Turkey Legs have become so popular at Walt Disney World that they have now have their own line of merchandise ranging from t-shirts to air fresheners.
The fact that “other” didn’t make the chart is not as surprising as there are so many wonderful snacks and treats to choose from at the Magic Kingdom!
Gaston’s Tavern serves delicious oversized cinnamon rolls that are large enough to share and Le Fou’s Brew: Frozen Apple Juice with a hint of Toasted Marshmallow and topped with All-Natural Passion Fruit-Mango Foam.
Churros can be found at many snack carts throughout the Walt Disney World Resort. These cinnamon sugar sticks of fried dough deliciousness are sure to hit your hungry spot.
Right smack in the middle of Big Top Souvenirs is Big Top Treats where Guests can find a large variety of lip smacking good snacks to choose from such as chocolate dipped apples, cake pops, cookies and candies.
Did your favorite Magic Kingdom snack make the list or were you in the “other” category? Feel free to leave your comments in the Comment Section below. As I said, we love to hear what our readers think.
