Tiffins is a signature dining experience that recently opened at Disney’s Animal Kingdom park. It is located in the Discovery Island area near the future Pandora – The World of Avatar.
Theming at Tiffins
This summer my family dined at Tiffins. First of all, the theming amazed me as soon as I entered! Sketches and notes from the Imagineers who created Disney’s Animal Kingdom are throughout the restaurant. I recommend spending some time to take it all in. Notably, there are photographs, collages, paintings and sculptures.
Tiffins Menu
Also, the theming makes its way onto the menus. When you get a menu, you will feel like you are looking into an adventurer’s log.
Food at Tiffins
Tiffins’s wild theme follows through to its menu selections. This is not your typical “steak and potatoes” restaurant. So if you have a less-than-adventurous palate, talk to your waitstaff. We found our waiter to be quite helpful.
Entrees
Since I love to try new things, I was excited to see marinated grilled octopus as an appetizer. It was done perfectly with artichoke barigoule, saffron aïoli, and lemon-caper olive oil. For an entree, I love fish but I tend to pass if it is served “whole.” I personally do not like my food to “look” at me. So when I saw “head-on” grilled prawns on the menu, I was going to choose something else. It sounded delicious, other than that my food would be looking back at me. Our waiter encouraged me to try it, and I wasn’t disappointed. It is served with tomatoes, roasted fennel, olives, and sea urchin butter sauce. (And when our waiter brought it, he was kind enough to face the heads away from me!) All of the entrees were delicious and the presentation was spectacular.
Tiffins Desserts
Also noteworthy, the dessert menu is also adventurous!
With our check, we also received a parting gift – a reproduction of artwork by Joe Rohde. In case you don’t recognize the name, Joe is a Disney Imagineer, and was the lead for Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Aulani, and currently for Pandora. You can see his touches throughout the restaurant. What a wonderful gift!
In conclusion, because of its adventurous menu, choosy diners could have a difficult time dining here but our dining party was happy. Because we found Tiffins to be amenable to requests, we agreed that it was a good choice for dinner. Have you tried Tiffins? What did you think?
