Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon, home of the world’s largest wave pool is celebrating 26 years since opening back on June 1, 1989.
Typhoon Lagoon’s theme is that of a ‘Disney Legend’ – a typhoon came across a tropical paradise and caused havoc with all things in its path. Fishing boats and surfboards rest where they had been thrown by the force of the winds.
Miss Tilly is a prominent feature of the park as she rests above Mount Mayday which erupts every 3o minutes with 50 foot geysers of water.
Typhoon Lagoon is also home of mascot Lagoona Gator who is related to Ice Gator who can be found over in Blizzard Beach. It is also home to some of the best surfable waves imaginable thanks to the imagineers who tested out different types of waves and surf board ride duration.
