Needless to say, many people had to STOP what they were doing and wait not-so-patiently for this announcement! Twitter was buzzing with excitement as it became clear that this was the announcement many have been waiting for! A new water park!
Well, now it’s official! Volcano Bay will be the third highly-immersive park to join the Universal Orlando Resort!
Volcano Bay sits in a spectacular tropical island, formed by volcanos. Families will enjoy the state-of-the-art attractions, relaxing areas and creates an experience that could change the way guests view water theme parks!
The park will open in 2017, and will be located just south of Cabana Bay Beach Resort. Construction has begun, but more details on Volcano Bay will be announced at a later date.
In 2014, there were trademark applications filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office relating to possible names such as “Volcano Bay” and Wondersea Island.” Universal Orlando had also purchased the land were Wet ‘N Wild now sits as well as additional acreage in 2013.

Wow! This is the first I’ve heard of this. Universal has certainly been stepping up their game lately. Competition is almost always a good thing for the consumer. I can’t wait to see the plans come together over the next couple of years!
Christen Francis says
I agree! It will be exciting to see how the plans unfold!
