There is nothing worse than discovering your favorite Walt Disney World Resort attraction is going to be down for refurbishment while you are visiting. We are here to give you weekly updates about what is currently closed and what attractions will be going down in the future.
A LOT of new refurbishments have been added to the list this week! The very lengthy resort monorail refurbishment has now been extended through April. This refurbishment has been extended several times since it began in March of last year. Currently in the Magic Kingdom, Buzz Lightyear’s Ranger Spin and the Magic Carpets of Aladdin are closed. It was announced this week that everyone’s favorite, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, will be closing April 4, 2016 and will remain closed through July for refurbishment.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom has several refurbishments ongoing this week which include Kali River Rapids, Flights of Wonder, and the Warung Outpost. Pizza Planet remains closed for its lengthy refurbishment in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. A substantial list of permanent closures for Hollywood Studios was announced this week which include Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure and Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show. These and eight (8) other locations will permanently close on April 3, 2016 (see the complete list below). The refurbishment of Soarin and the re-imagination of the Maelstrom continue in Epcot this week. Frozen Ever After is still on schedule to open on April 30, 2016. Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon remains closed this week for its annual refurbishment.
Several ongoing resort refurbishments continue this week at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Boardwalk Inn, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, and Buena Vista Palace. Upcoming refurbishments scheduled for the Walt Disney World Resort include:

*The Walt Disney World® Resort Monorail System will undergo refurbishment that will impact the express monorail beam, which runs between the Ticket & Transportation Center and the Magic Kingdom. Express beam shutdowns will occur between the hours of 11:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The Resort beam will continue to run during downtimes. Guests arriving at the Ticket & Transportation Center during downtimes will be directed to the ferry boats.
