There is nothing worse than discovering your favorite Walt Disney World Resort attraction is going to be down for refurbishment while you are visiting. We are here to give you weekly updates about what is currently closed and what attractions will be going down in the future.
Theme Parks
Currently in the Magic Kingdom, all attractions are up and running with the next scheduled refurbishment (Mad Tea Party) set to begin on February 22nd. (The refurbishment of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad which is scheduled for April 4, 2016 through July 2016, was not listed on Disney’s schedule this week. We are not removing this from our list at this time until we receive confirmation from Disney as to the status of this refurbishment. Stay tuned.) Disney’s Animal Kingdom has several refurbishments ongoing this week which include Kali River Rapids, Flights of Wonder, and the Warung Outpost, all of which are set to complete on March 17.
Pizza Planet remains closed for its lengthy refurbishment in Disney’s Hollywood Studios (set to reopen in late 2016). A couple of weeks ago Disney announced the permanent closure of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure and Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show. Both of these attractions will permanently shut down on April 3rd. The refurbishment of Soarin and the re-imagination of the Maelstrom continue in Epcot this week. Frozen Ever After is still on schedule to open on April 30, 2016. Circle of Life is also under refurbishment in Epcot through April 2nd.
Resort Hotels
Several ongoing resort refurbishments continue this week at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Boardwalk Inn, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, and Buena Vista Palace. *The Walt Disney World® Resort Monorail System will undergo refurbishment that will impact the express monorail beam, which runs between the Ticket & Transportation Center and the Magic Kingdom. Express beam shutdowns will occur between the hours of 11:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The Resort beam will continue to run during downtimes. Guests arriving at the Ticket & Transportation Center during downtimes will be directed to the ferry boats.
