Starting this week on Tuesday, July 21 it is being reported by WDW Magic that Walt Disney World will be testing new assigned seating for Disney’s Hollywood Studios‘ nighttime show, Fantasmic! During the test, Guests will not be able to make advance FastPass+ reservations for Fantasmic, but will be able to use the in-park FastPass+ kiosk to schedule a FastPass+ for that day.
The testing will be broken up in three different testing phases. The first will take place July 21 and July 22 and Guests will be assigned specific seats when scheduling their FastPass+. On July 23 and July 24 the second phase will begin. During this time Guests will be allocated Fastpass+ for specific rows. The last phase takes place July 27 and July 28 during which Guests will be given FastPass+ with a specific section for the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater.
Fantasmic! is extremely popular, and Guests start lining up at least a couple of hours in advance of the show. With these new tests, Guests would be able to enjoy more park time without worrying about not getting seating.
How do you feel these new FastPass+ seating assignments could impact how you plan your day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios?
Don’t know if I like this. While there in January I made my fastpass online and did not have a problem. Now, instead of the line being long to get a seat for the show it will be long waiting to get to the kiosk.
Oh I seriously dislike this idea. I like Fantasmic, but I don’t consider it “fast pass worthy”. Honestly, I don’t even understand the concept of getting a Fastasmic dinner package, only to be told that you “still* have to show up ridiculously far ahead of time in order to get into your special “reserved” seating. I cannot stand wasting time first standing around, then sitting on hard benches for an hour or more before the display starts. I now only go when there is a second showing, because you can generally walk on. I could truly say that if the only way I could see this is if I used a fast pass then I would probably not ever see it again. That makes me sad too. I appreciate being able to schedule things when I want to, but don’t want to be forced into scheduling EVERYTHING.
