Disney released exciting news this week for those of you traveling to Walt Disney World during the month of May and the first week of June! The refurbishment of Pirates of the Caribbean previously scheduled for May 11 – September 25, is now scheduled for June 8 – September 25.
In Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the refurbishment of Flame Tree BBQ has been underway since January 5th. The original completion date was scheduled for April 22nd. Disney updated the completion date this past week to reflect May 18th.
The Richard Petty Exotic Driving Experience is currently closed until May 1 following the fatal accident on April 12 which took the life of instructor Gary Terry.
Attraction refurbishments currently underway in Walt Disney World Resort include the Jungle Cruise in the Magic Kingdom (4/13 – 5/08) and Lights, Motors, Action (4/20 – 4/24) in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The current resort refurbishments and those future attraction refurbishments include:

*The Walt Disney World Resort Monorail System will undergo refurbishment that will impact the Express monorail beam, which runs between the Ticket & Transportation Center and the Magic Kingdom. Express beam shutdowns will occur between the hours of 11:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The Resort beam will continue to run during downtimes. Guests arriving at the Ticket & Transportation Center during downtimes will be directed to the ferry boats.
