Wear These Disney Pins and Guests May “BADGE-er You!”

Happy Birthday Christen!! 🙂

Disney Parks love to help Guests celebrate! One way they do so is to provide celebratory pins (or buttons or badges if you prefer). Celebration pins are available for everything from birthdays to weddings and engagements to graduations and anniversaries. When you check in at your Walt Disney World Resort or if you go to Guest Relations at one of the Theme Parks, Cast Members will give you a complimentary pin to show what you are celebrating! These pins are easily personalized with your name.

DIStracted Tip: Ask the Cast Member to cover your name with some clear tape. Although they use a Sharpie, if you wear these pins during a long stay the hand-written name will start to fade or smudge. But a few pieces of tape over your name will protect the writing! Some Cast Members do this automatically, but many do not.

First Visit Pin

I’ll never forget how emotional I was when I checked in for our very first family vacation at Walt Disney World in 2010. The Resort Cast Member handed me two “1st Visit” pins for my daughter and husband to wear. I immediately started to cry as one of my dreams was coming true – experiencing The Most Magical Place on Earth, with my family, for the first time.

Birthday Pin

In our family, we have what we call “Birthday Season,” since our birthdays all fall within 4 weeks of each other. We love celebrating each of our birthdays and it’s really a month-long family celebration. Sadly, we haven’t actually been at Walt Disney World during our birthdays. Luckily we are still able to celebrate our birthdays – just a little early, thanks to the “Happy Birthday” pins. Often, because we are wearing these pins, our servers at table service restaurants bring us a cupcake complete with a candle to make a wish!

As a result of your buttons or badges, don’t be surprised if random Guests frequently “badger” you to wish you well! Wearing these pins means you get to hear “Happy Birthday” from not just Cast Members and Characters – but also from Guests who will go out of their way to help you celebrate! It’s so much fun and we find ourselves doing the same thing to other Guests around the Parks. We love spotting pins and saying “Happy Birthday!” or “Happy Anniversary!” My personal favorite is when I see the “Just Engaged!” pins – I make a point to say “Congratulations!” to the happy couple. It’s a lot of fun to be a part of someone’s celebration.

  3. When I traveled to Walt Disney World with my sister, it was always during the Summer season when she was off from teaching school. My birthday always fell in July, and I always took advantage of the Birthday Badge. One birthday, at Tony’s Town Square Cafe, I got a birthday card that was probably circa 1989 because out of the three theme parks represented, Roger Rabbit was the chosen mascot for Disney-MGM Studios.
