My first trip to Walt Disney World was in 2006, and I remember pouring over all the different resorts trying to decide where to stay. We finally decided on All-Star Sports, but I swore to myself one day I would stay at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas. The pictures on the Disney World website just left me breathless. Fast forward to 2009, and my wish came true! My husband and I stayed in a savanna view studio, and I fell in love. There is nothing better than waking up in the morning, and sipping coffee on the balcony overlooking the savanna with giraffes, zebras and the many other animals that roam freely. Over the years I have fallen more in love with this awe inspiring resort. I try to stay there at least for a few days each trip, and make it a point of doing something new each trip!
My family loves the Samawati Springs Pool at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas- Kidani. The 128 feet long water slide is sure to please any adult or teen! Camp Uwanja is a great water play area for the younger kids. There are smaller water slides perfect for young kids, along with wading pools and water cannons. There is also daily scheduled entertainment at the pools at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas.
One little secret gem available for guests staying at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas is the free night vision viewing of the animals. Guests are provided with night vision goggles that allow them to view the animals after the sun has set.
Another fabulous feature at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas is the amazing restaurants. You can choose to dine with Animal Specialists at Sanna with a stunning view of the animals from ground level, or experience a wine tasting tour at Jiko- The Cooking Place. The Mara, is open morning to night and allows guests to dine indoors or poolside while feasting on soups, sandwiches, salads, pizza and burgers.
However, my favorite, Boma – Flavors of Africa can be found over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom- Jambo House. The breakfast buffet is absolutely amazing, and there is something to please everyone! Make sure to try their amazing Jungle Juice!
The best part about Disney’s resorts is that you do not have to be staying there to experience some of the great offerings, such as the great story telling, music, or to just explore the resort.
