Being April 2, everyone is carefully checking and double checking everything that comes across their screens. Nobody wants to fall for a belated April Fools’ prank. But this new rumor of a “Mystery Attraction” has some real weight to it, thanks to a personal website update from Jerry Rees.
You may not know Jerry Rees, but let me assure you that you are probably VERY aware of his work. Rees has not only directed live action, animation, and live/CGI films, he has also directed 16 of our favorite Disney Theme Park attractions in Florida, Paris and Anaheim! If you want a list of his work, which includes directing the movie Back to Neverland as well as the pre-show of Rockin’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Park, check this out!
So when a “Mystery Attraction” announcement came from his website, people noticed!
With a few more clicks of the mouse, we see this:
The mystery attraction is at Epcot! And that’s about all we know! Epcot only narrows down the possibilities to two whole worlds – Future World and the World Showcase. Let’s give Future World a slight advantage, since Innoventions West is closing soon. But with Jerry’s eclectic background, this could be anything!
Considering we already know that there is a new Frozen attraction coming to the Norway Pavilion – this should mean no fewer than two new attractions to the park in 2015/2016. I do hope that this is a new ride or show, and not a replacement of Illuminations. My family is a big Epcot fan, and we would love to see more rides in this park. Perhaps more exciting rides would alleviate the dreaded tier system to FastPass+ at this park?
This is BIG news for those of us who enjoy and appreciate Epcot. Breathing new life into an overlooked park is great, in my opinion. What do you think could be coming? Show? Ride? Tell us your thoughts!
