Do you like to rock out to oompah music in your free time? Even if the answer is no (which it shouldn’t be … oompah!) you should try Biergarten Restaurant at the German Pavilion in Epcot‘s World Showcase.
My husband’s love of beer and sauerkraut originally led us to this fine establishment. The fact that it is an authentic German buffet was great because my kids were able to pick multiples of the items that they liked, thus filling their little bellies whilst establishing a connection to the outside world, making them “global citizens.” On the buffet are items such as bratwurst, rotisserie chicken, pork schnitzel and a variety of salads. And the dessert is delicious Bavarian cheesecake, German Black Forest cake and apple strudel – all fresh and made daily of course.
A unique feature of Biergarten is that you sit at a communal table. This means you get to socialize with strangers who quickly become friends! My husband is not a people person, but even he enjoyed it!
Then, there’s the bier and entertainment! Throughout the evening, there is an oompah band that plays lively music and the restaurant boasts a dance floor (popular with the young & young at heart). I have been to a few Oktoberfests in my life, and this place definitely gets that vibe right! As for the bier (or beer), there is a vast offering of German beer (or wine if that’s your choice). We are beer lovers, so we decided upon a flight of deliciousness.
DIStracted Tip – Make sure to check the schedule for entertainment! They sometimes have 45-60 minute gaps between shows which could leave you oompah-less with your schnitzel!
Whether you’re traveling with your spouse, children, or a multi-generational group, Biergarten at Epcot has something for everyone – a delicious buffet with “safe” children’s food, entertainment, bountiful drink, and an Oktoberfest vibe. It is now on our “must visit” list and I wonder why it took us so long to visit in the first place!
