Rumors! Who doesn’t love rumors; especially those related to Walt Disney World? But I have to admit this just might be my favorite of all!
Screamscape.com is reporting that some of our beloved Jungle Cruise skippers might be adding the role of “server” to their list of accomplishments! This rumor starts in Liberty Square, where the Liberty Tree Tavern is expected to close for five months starting early July. Word is Disney is redesigning the kitchen for multi-use – a backstage facility that would service both Liberty Tree Tavern and a new Adventureland restaurant. The new restaurant will be in the old Adventureland Veranda, and the theme could tie into the Jungle Cruise attraction. It has been confirmed that construction permits were filed for a refurbishment of the Veranda Restaurant!
“While the concept may still be a bit fluid, the overall concept from what I understand
is that it will be themed to tie into the Jungle Cruise theme. In short… imagine a crazy Adventureland themed restaurant staffed by the Jungle Cruise Skippers as a way to pay the bills when they are in-between jobs, and to expand their bad comedy into the realm of the culinary arts.” – Screamscape
Here at Magical DIStractions , we have been discussing whether the Adventureland restaurant would be table service or quick service. I personally hope for table service, especially if it is Jungle Cruise themed with the skippers as servers. I just have a hard time seeing the full theming being preserved in a quick service environment.
Imagine Jungle Cruise hospitality! “You’ve reached a fork in the river. Welcome to our beast-tro. My name is Marc and I’m part of one of the Jungle Crews here. Why hello Princess, aren’t you just the gorilla my dreams? Aw, she’s shy … I’ll skipper for now. The natives are anxious to have you all for lunch. It’s a rare treat for them! Set up camp anywhere you’d like. I’m not lion – you Congo to the left or you Congo to the right. Slide all the way into the booth, please. It keeps the cushions clean. I suggest starting with Tramp Steamer Clams and Tropical Punch. Our entrees today are Shrimp Campy with our Jungle Can o’ Peas, or Roast Pygmyeat with Asparagus Spears. Dessert? Oh it’s unlikely you’ll be here that long – I think I hear those natives approaching. I never repeat what they say. You can, but you’ll be taking a chants. You don’t hear them? That reminds me, which pachyderms do you suppose hear better – Indian or African? Who cares? It’s ear-elephant! I’m going on a trek to the galley. If I survive that, maybe I’ll show you how butterflies.”
Would you like the Adventureland restaurant to be themed with the comedic Jungle Cruise Skippers? Share your thoughts!

We would never be allowed to eat elsewhere. Andrew’s favorite!! I wonder if they’ll serve vegetarians? Probably only when they’re in season!
